Guy Clark: The Randall Knife (Cover)

January 23, 2010

A song dear to my heart as Guy Clark wrote this after his father passed away. With all apologies to Mr. Clark, I changed one line – my father died when I was 20 – because, well, that’s what happened to me.

To me, this is the best song ever written about losing a father.

MojoTwanger: Heaven Walk

December 17, 2009

They threw the dirt on the pine box
and lowered him down in the ground
They found him dead out on the docks
They think he may have drowned

There’s no name on the headstone
Just a Rest In Peace.
He wasn’t noticed, loved or known
A discarded chess piece.

But they say he was a good man
They say he just didn’t talk
Always lent a helping hand
Now he’s gone on his Heaven Walk

He just appeared in town one day
And sort of stuck around
Where he was from he wouldn’t say
And never made another sound

He smiled a lot, with his eyes
And made you feel better
Wasn’t quite one of the guys
They thought he’d explain, later

But they say he was a good man
They say he just didn’t talk
Always lent a helping hand
Now he’s gone on his Heaven Walk

There’s no name on the headstone
Just a Rest in Peace
He had no gold of his own
There won’t be a press release

He won’t be remembered tomorrow
No, he won’t be missed
His passing’s no big blow
He’ll disappear like the mist.

But they say he was a good man
They say he just didn’t talk
Always lent a helping hand
Now he’s gone on his Heaven Walk

Now he’s gone on his Heaven Walk

Three Little Birds (Bob Marley Cover)

A song that never fails to put a smile on my face… which is why I enlisted my kids to sing it with me!

Crook S-type into Swart AST.

Even though I am a Tele guy, this S-type keeps calling my name. And plugged through the AST, there isn’t one bad tone to be found!
